Up The Wall: Wallpaper Gets Fresh for Modern Interiors

The Marisol Mural from the upcoming Catalina collection.
This week our creative director, Paula Berberian, was interviewed for the Columbia Daily Tribune. She gave us all of her expert information on the newest trends in wallpaper, how to choose the perfect design for your home, and when to DIY.
Tribune: Many of us think of ghastly, grandmotherly florals when we think of wallpaper. What are some wallpaper trends that might surprise people?
Berberian: Wallpaper today is better than it’s ever been — great designs, intriguing and innovative printing techniques and superior substrates that make application and removal easier than ever. There are a variety of wallpaper styles in the market today that have come a long way from the grandmotherly florals of years past. The main underlying theme in wallpaper designs today is “modern.” Florals today are fresh and colorful, geometrics are bold and contemporary. Reclaimed surfaces have been translated into intriguing designs that will have you wondering if it’s real or a fantastic interpretation. Natural grasscloths and wovens are infused with metallics, on-trend color palettes and other materials that take this longtime classic to new heights. Embellishments like beads, flock, raised inks, mica, foils and holographics are adding dimension and depth to many of our wallpapers these days.
We were so happy to be included in the Tribune and have Paula share her thoughts on wallpaper in 2016!
